Julia Chen

Licensed Acupuncturist & Herbalist

— Founder, Pleasant Wellness

Julia grew up in South China, where her father worked as a physician. She attended Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, earning a five-year degree in clinical medicine, then practiced as a physician for three years. She went on to earn a master’s degree in Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine from Jinan University before moving to the United States for acupuncture and herbal medicine certification.

She trained under several respected acupuncturists — including Professor Chen Liguo, Professor Zhuang Lixing, Professor Jiao Shunfa, and Professor Li Xinwu — developing particular expertise in nervous system and neurological disorders.

Her approach uses fewer needles and causes less discomfort, with an emphasis on patient comfort throughout. Julia founded Pleasant Wellness in 2018.

Bonnie Chen

Licensed Acupuncturist & Herbalist

Born in New York and raised partly in China until the age of ten, Bonnie was first introduced to Chinese medicine through her grandfather’s traditional herbal remedies. After some initial hesitation about acupuncture, she discovered firsthand how gentle and powerful it could be.

She earned her master’s degree from the New York College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and practiced in New York City for several years, treating thousands of patients. Licensed in both New York and Massachusetts, she now brings her Traditional Chinese Medicine expertise to the community.

Mingqiang Liang

Licensed Acupuncturist

Mingqiang graduated from Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine after eight years of study — a five-year bachelor’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine focused on acupuncture, followed by a three-year master’s degree in clinical medicine on full scholarship.

He brings ten years of medical-field experience, including a one-year internship at Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a two-and-a-half-year residency at Zhongshan Hospital of Chinese Medicine. During his residency he focused on severe bone fractures and related injuries, taking part in over a thousand surgical operations annually and providing post-operative pain relief.

He specializes in treating psychological disorders — including insomnia, anxiety, migraines, and facial paralysis — and has contributed to multiple research studies in these areas.

Evelyn Hsu, Licensed Acupuncturist & Herbalist

Evelyn Hsu

Licensed Acupuncturist & Herbalist

Evelyn earned her Master of Acupuncture with a specialization in Chinese Herbal Medicine from Texas Health and Science University — an ACAHM-accredited program — completing 900 hours of supervised clinical training. She is a board-certified Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and a licensed acupuncturist in Massachusetts, Maryland, and Virginia.

Before devoting herself to Chinese medicine, Evelyn spent nearly a decade in the technology industry. She brings that same analytical, detail-oriented mindset to the personalized treatment plans she designs for each patient.

Her clinical focus includes stress, anxiety, and sleep; acute sports injuries and chronic pain; women’s health such as PMS and menopause; stroke and palsy recovery; and supportive care that eases the side effects of cancer treatment. Alongside acupuncture, she practices cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, and Chinese herbal medicine.
